I love Cara Delevingne’s look on the September issue of W magazine. The neutral yet intense palette on the eyes and those gorgeous muted lips take a backseat, letting her amazing eyebrows take centre stage (it really seems that the full brow trend has no plans on letting up, which is great). It’s an interesting departure from the reds, wines, and burgundies that is so often touted as the thing to do for fall. Photography by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott Styled […]
This subtle yet punchy wash of colour on a creamy nude base, is just perfect for what’s left of our summer. The models’ hands are so smooth and groomed that it’s making me think of my favorite hand cream, and the fact that I need to pay more attention to my cuticles. Stunning. via Nail Common.
The Undercut is nothing new, and I’ve been in love with variations of the look for years now. I’ve never considered it for myself, not because I’m afraid to shave my head, (been there, and during an epic Quebec ice storm no less…), but rather I kept thinking about the “After”. You know, the brutal growing out phase that’s tough enough when you have a “regular” haircut, much less when one side is razored almost to the skin. Lately I haven’t been […]
Some shots of Daria looking cool and sexy in the July issue of Vogue Spain. I’ve really had enough of the eighties redux but when it looks like this…Bring back frosty pink and yes, let’s wear sneakers with everything! Via Vogue Spain
Apparently spring is here (although you wouldn’t know it by the 6 feet of snow outside my window), and with that comes thoughts of the beautiful sandals that we’re all yearning to wear. I love getting pedicures, what woman doesn’t? But during the winter I forgo the coloured polish, and just go for a clear topcoat because I’m impatient, can’t sit there watching “Step It Up 2″ over and over (yeah my nail place is great, but the movies suck), […]
It’s not just about the makeup. Braided and “bunned” hair was HUGE for fall. But why wait until the leaves turn again? These styles caught my eye, and I think they will be bang on for spring and summer. Miu Miu‘s little buns were like cute little brioches pinned to an otherwise sleek silhouette. “The coats are very heavy and very stylistic, and Miuccia wanted a small head“, said Stylist Guido Palau. Stylist Luigi Murenu created romantic braids at […]

The glossy eye has been all over the place for the fall 2013, with a ton of looks punctuated by a high shine eye in a variety of colours. There was bronze at Tom Ford, peach at Marni and Givenchy, and inky black at Donna Karan just to name a few. Perhaps my favorite though, was the look that took centre stage at Giambatista Valli and Roberto Cavalli. While other artists perhaps achieved the look with a swipe of MAC LipGlass, […]
I would love to have a huge, full afro and every time I see a picture of a woman with one I fall in love. My own hair is natural right now, with no chemical straighteners but it’s more of a baby ‘fro. I kind of don’t have the patience to grow it out, and love changing my hair so it’s been cut a few times over the years. One day perhaps I’ll stop chopping and be patient so I […]
The eyes at Chanel were so gorgeous and would be genius for a wedding or prom. I think I would also wear it for day, but I’d go with the not-so-jumbo sparkles instead. But then what’s the point? This look demands to be noticed! Below is an interview with makeup artist Peter Phillips, the man who created the look.
At Rochas for fall 2013 it was all about big, deliberately bad hair according to hair stylist Eugene Souleiman, who likened his look to a “bob with a bad perm”. The models’ hair was given a deep side part/comb-over then flat ironed about a third of the way down. The remaining length was curled around a wand, then stretched out to produce a wave, and left a bit frizzy. The point was not to make it look too polished, as a […]
